More about Demi...
Demi was the last addition to the foundation on which we base our breeding.
She arrived to Sweden from Australia, 16 weeks old and good as gold in
June of 1996. After 36 hours in a crate she was happy to finally arrive
with her new family and ever since she has been the same delightful, adorable
girl, charming every person who has the honour of meeting her.
All from the start Demi proved to be a perfect little show girl and from
8 performances in the puppy classes, she collected 2 x Best in Show, 2
x BIS-2, 3 x BIS-3 and 1 x BIS-5, making her Sweden's most successful
show puppy 1996. She topped of the year by going best junior bitch at
Swedish Winner's, a show where she was BOB and Group 1st (first RR ever!!)
in 1997 and BOS in 1998.
In 1997 Demi won numerous CC's and although only competing from junior
and intermediate class, managed to end up as #9 on the Top Ten RR-list
that year.
In 1998 Demi completed her championship by winning her 11th CC on the
first time out in open class, only three months after having had her first
litter. In June -98 she completed her Nordic and International championship
and before that was finally confirmed in July -99, she had won no less
than 13 International CC's (CACIB).
At Specialty shows Demi had an excellent year in 1998, going 2nd Best
bitch (best champion bitch) at the Swedish National Specialty (of 72 bitches),
Best in Show at the Norwegian Specialty and Best in Show at the Swedish
RR Club's Specialty shows in Lövudden and Alfta. After a very close
call between Demi and the top winning Nordic RR of the 90's; Multi Ch
& Winner Parih's Ghali M'Zungu (with BOB at Swedish Winners being
what would decide who would win Top Ten in the country) Demi upon goin
g BOS to "Nelson" at Sw. Winners, ended up #2 RR and #1 RR bitch
in 1998.
In 1999 Demi again had a shot at going Top Ridgeback. With only Swedish
Winners left for the year, she was the only one who could touch the #1
dog, Ch Aakemba King Astor GiFumo. As Astor won BOB, Demi however had
to "settle" for another #2 RR and again top winning bitch.
During 1999 Demi won ap. 10 BOB/BOS and she was 4th Best bitch at the
National Specialty (65 bitches competing) under Mr. Sammy Wallace. She
also won the Finnish Winner-title for the second consecutive year at the
big Helsinki show and went BOB and Group-1 (817 finalists in group) at
the prestigious International SKK show in Vaxjo (breed entry of 54).
In 2000 - for the 3rd consecutive year! - Demi won the title Finnish
Winner, this time by going BOB at the international Helsinki show. With
time out for a litter in the summer/fall, Demi was only shown during part
of the season. Her Best in Specialty show-win (Alfta 2000) and the BOB/BOS
wins that she has had during the year, did however rank her - once again!-
as the #2 RR and #1 bitch on the Top Ten list, although she had to share
this spot with half-sister Rex Ventors Cetinja, after a tie in points.
We find it truly amazing that Demi has managed three consecutive top bitch
of the year, especially considering that she has had time out for a litter
during each of these three years!
In 2001, Demi for the first time in four years, was shown the whole
year with no time out to have babies. A very nice BOB-win at the large
international All breed show in Malmö gave the year a good start,
especially as Demi's son Akeron was BOS, half sister Cetinja gained her
title and Demi's daughter Farrah was Puppy in Show-3. The year continued
with some truly marvellous results including BOS at the National Specialty
under Ms. Lindsay Barnes UK and once again BOB and Group-1 at the internat
ional Växjö show. For the 4th year Swedish Winners was the show
to decide whether Demi would end up on top. Before the show, she was No
1 RR in the country but 2 dogs had the chance of beating her (one being
her son Dakowo), provided that they won BOB at Swedish Winners. Luckily,
Demi's son Akeron and sister Cetinja kept the competition in check by
winning BOB and BOS (and the Swedish Winner-01 titles) and Demi was finally
not only top bitch, but TOP RIDGEBACK in the country. Top RR male was
Demi's son Ch RV Dakowo to Evergrace and among the top 10 were also her
kids Akeron and Farrah and sister Tinja. Daughter Daquila ended up on
the no 11 spot. What a family affair!
After 2001 Demi has left the show rings to be dominated by her kids and
grand-kids. In 2002 Demi's daughter Rex Ventors Farrah at Nyassa (exp
UK) started off the year in unbelievable style by winning Best of Breed
at Crufts, competing from junior class. Farrah during the year has won
8 CCs and 5 BOB (including a BISS-win) and finished the year Top Ridgeback
in the UK 2002. Farrah's litter sister Farenya (livernose) definitely
made Demi's prescence felt at the shows in Scandinavia, winning Best in
Show both at the Swedish and the Norwegian National Specialties 2002.
Altogether she won 10 CC in three countries and 5 CACIB in two countries
2002 and completed her Nordic champion title (making Demi's 10th champion
get) by winning Best of breed at Swedish Winners 2002. She thus gained
the title Swedish Winner 2002 (SV-02) and secured the spot as Top Ridgeback
2002 - following in mum's pawprints! Demi's son Ch Dakowo to Evergrace
is once again Top winning Ridgeback male in the country. In 2002, Demi-son
Akeron also won BOB at the World Winner show in Holland.
In 2003, Demi's half sister RV Cetinja was top RR with Demi-daughters
Enya placing 2nd and Daquila 7th. In 2004, Demi's grand-kids took over
the show with Helinn winning the Top RR spot in Sweden and brother Hero
being top RR male. Their sister Hazel was top RR in Norway. The kids from
Demi's final litter, born in 2003, also began to make their prescence
felt. Iving in Norway won 6 CC during 2004, Isola in Sweden won one and
Iyeliz wrapped up the year by winning her first CC and going BOS at the
Norwegian Winner show, making her Norwegian Winner 2004. At Crufts dog
show, Demi-son Akeron won Res CC.
As of 2005, Demi is also the dam of an impressive 17 champions - including
a Crufts BOB and a World Winner BOB. The progeny from her last litter
will no doubt also follow in their mother's pawprints and we're certain
that Demi's presence in the rings will be felt for years to come!
On top of an outstanding show carreer, Demi is also an excellent tracker
and easily completed her field tracking championship in 2003. Nowadays
she spends most of her time playing with sister Tinja, raising the younger
RV generations (including the 2-legged ones) and having an occational
visit in the fields to do tracking. All things considered, Demi is truly
a once in a lifetime dog and just one of her many qualities would be enough
to make her exceptional. Her temperament is absolutely flawless and she
is the most balanced, confident, sweet and charming individual. We are
so blessed to be able to share our lives with this little queen!
