2005-08-29 - Not just beauty...
I just received news that Helinn, Nango and Yenna had a great day at field tracking trials. Yenna was awarded her third 1st prize and now has all the qualifying field merits required for Swedish Fieldtracking Champion and only needs a show merit after 15 months of age to complete her championship. All this at only 11 months of age!!! Super congrats to Yenna and proud mum Ninna! For Helinn and her uncle Nango (RV Durango) this was the first time out at official fieldtracking trial in open class. Both of them were awarded 1st prizes and with honour's prize, no less!! Surely a spectacular start for their show carreers! Very impressive! Personally I'm amazed that Helinn and Yenna even had the strength to take a walk in the woods today, after having been at the show grounds until 6.40 pm yesterday... I know my energy-level is certainly not that high today! ;) Although of course am feeling very inspired upon receiving these great tracking news! Big congrats Ninna and Janan on these lovely awards for your dogs!

2005-08-28 - Stockholm KC Champ show in Täby, breed entry 67, judge Anders Morelius
At all breed show in Täby, all breeds were exibited on one day which created a huge and crowded show ground at the Täby galopparena. Fortunately for us, our ring was out on one side and situated on grass, unlike most rings which were on concrete in a very crowded area. After a dull start of the day with rain and a grey sky, the wheather finally eased up on us and we even had some sun in the afternoon. 67 RRs were entered of which 11 were in the puppy class. Bandit and I made our second appearance together in the ring and Bandit performed beautifully. He wasn't the judge's cup of tea though as he preferred heavier dogs, and Bandit ended up on 4th place out of seven competing boys. Big congratulations to Bandit's sister Stardust Brizette by Genova "Ella" who won the bitch class and brought home Puppy of breed!

In the adult classes we were very happy to see Akeron go from veteran's class to best male! Akeron's "little brother" Navy won the CC, placing 4th best dog. Big congrats Maria and Robert on the success of your boys! Also thanks for letting me show Akeron again - he is such a pleasure to handle! Even though he could easily be mistaken for a junior looking at his enthusiasm and the way he plays around in the ring sometimes! ;) Oh well - he certainly still enjoys himself and that's the main thing!

In the bitch class, Yenna was second in junior and Isola won the open class with champion quality. The champion class was won by Helinn who also brought home best bitch. Isola was 4th in the best bitch class, so close but not quite there for achieving the last CC for championship this time.

It was of course a joy to have two dogs from my breeding compete for BOB at such a big show. For the day, the judge found that Helinn was the most to his liking and awarded her BOB. Rex Ventors was also competing with a breeder's group consisting of Tinja, Yenna, Risto and Akeron and was awarded BOB-breeder.

BOS Akeron and BOB Helinn

Tinja, Yenna, Risto and Akeron in the breeder's group

In the finals, the very first RV appearance was actually by Ch RV Cordiva who competed in junior handling (well not her,  but Helene ;). They managed a 4th place from 56 competing junior handlers! Well done! Akeron was then entering the ring, competing for veteran in show. From a huge number of finalists, Akeron made into semi-finals and the final ten which was really nice. The next final was the breeder's groups. I'm sure there were at least fifty groups competing - there were breeder's groups pretty much all over the place! ;) Many of the top breeders (several of which have been awarded Breeder of the year) were competing and as we looked over the competition we figured our chances of being placed in the top five, were rather slim. The woggies with skilled handlers showed beautifully though and much to our excitement we were awarded BIS-5 with the group! Big thanks to Janan, Malena and Maria for handling and to Ninna for letting lovely Yenna stay on with us to compete!

The next finals appearance was made by Helinn and she certainly did it in grand style. From a strong group, she managed a group 1st and thus qualified to compete in the Best in Show. Ridgebacks are VERY rarely placed in BIS top five in Sweden and even dogs with outstanding show carreers have found that a group win is usually the end of the road. Much to our delight, Helinn made it into the top five and was placed BEST IN SHOW-4 out of 2700+ entered dogs!!! We are so proud! Super thanks to Sofie Lönn for handling Helinn (and congrats on basenji Paris' CC!).

2005-08-19 - New GB Champion!!
Today Scottish export Rex Ventors Gabriza won the bitch ticket under breeder-judge Charlotte Strickland of Vortrekker kennels. This was Gabby's 3rd CC and thus completed her GB Champion-title. This is my third GB Champion, which of course is extra special! Gabby is dam Arezza's very first conformation champion offspring. Huge congratulations to owners Sharon Rossiter of Sonstraal kennels and Tom Johnston!!! Puppy of breed was Sonstraal Christmas Eve at Kazval, a Beks-granddaughter.

2005-08-15 - The Lone Star has arrived...
Lacey gave birth to a single beautiful little girl with show ridge, very little white and a lovely color. No kink or DS. We hope this lovely little girl will capture all the qualities of gorgeous mum Lacey and handsome dad Hero to make a new Rex Ventors' showstopper. We're very pleased at her arrival and particularily impressed with mum Lacey who easily delivered this girl, without the complications which often occur in a singleton litter. Welcome to the world, little one!

The lone star has arrived...

2005-08-15 - New fieldtracking champions!
Super congrats to littermates Jaristo and Jindra who were both awarded 1st prize in open class bloodtracking today and thus completed the merits for Swedish Fieldtracking Champions!! Well done! Young Yenna also made her debut start in open class and was awarded 1st prize. Well done all!! I'm so proud of you!

2005-08-14 - Hazel International champion!
Big congratulations to Ch RV Hazel who was BOS in Odense, Denmark and thus picked up the final CACIB to complete her international championtitle!! Well done Grete and Hazel!

2005-08-14 - Nyköping KC show, judge Mr Hans Almgren (Swe), breed entry 47
We were very proud to see no less than five RV's placed in the top at the this show. Ikaros won the intermediate dog class with champion quality. Dacke then won the champion class, followed by new-baked champion Haranyo. Dacke then finished 2nd best male, Haranyo 3rd and Ikaros 4th - so certainly strong represenation in the best dog class!

In the bitch class, Iyeliz won the intermediate class with championquality, followed by RV Fayora-daughter Stardust Amila. In the large open class, Hilandra placed 2nd with championquality. Farenya was 2nd in champion and 2nd best bitch, followed by Iyeliz who wa 3rd best bitch, winning her fourth CC! Big congrats also to Hero's daughter Jawa from Bawabu in Finland, who won the junior class with championquality both days this weekend!

The top honours at this show went to Finnish Aries-kids (thus half-sibilings of Fayora's planned litter) Ch Tarujen Mabaru and Ch Tarujen Mwendani who not only took out BOB and BOS but also competed their Swedish championtitles during the weekend. Big congratulations!

2005-08-13 - Maestro wins big!
At the Bournemouth show, Magic-son Evergrace's Magic Maestro won his first CC and best dog in stiff competition. Super congrats to Derek and Jean Smith of Lilongwe kennels and special well done to Jean for handling your lovely boy to this sweet win! GB export RV Gabriza won a large open bitch class and BOB at the show was Sonstraal Christmas Eve, a grand-daughter of GB export GB Ch Rex Ventors Beks at Nyassa. I'm very proud of the rellies!

2005-08-13 - Norrköping KC show, judge Mentasti Gianercole (Italy), breed entry 42
A few RV's attended the show in Norrköping and we were happy to hear that lovely Farenya won BOB and BIG-4 - handled in the breed by mum Elin. Well done! Katano's once again won the junior dog class and now was awarded his first championquality. More to come, we're sure! :)

2005-08-12 - All of I-litter clear on hips and elbows!
Gila aka Iangila was the last from the I-litter to have her hips and elbows done and like the rest of the litter, she came back with hips grade A and elbows 0/0! Well done!!

2005-08-06 - KC show in Ronneby. breed entry 26, judge Mr David Miller
While most of us were attending the specialty in Askersund (except Helinn who was relaxing on the couch), the Ohgami-boys went to the Ronneby show. We were no less than THRILLED to receive news that handsome copper-boy Haranyo was awarded Best dog with CC - thus completing his Swedish conformationchampiontitle!!! Super congratulations to S Ch Rex Ventors Haranyo and proud owners Jazmine & Mike Ohgami on this well deserved award!

Haranyo makes the 22nd RV-champion and the 4th champion for his dam Ch RV Daquila and equally the 4th champion from the H-litter. Hopefully sister Hilandra will also complete her title before long, to award mum Daquila her CV-award (equiv. ROM). Big congratulations to all concerned and special thanks to Marie & Mats Holmström for letting me co-own Daquila, enabling me to breed such an outstanding litter from an equally outstanding girl!

2005-08-06 - RR Club Specialty show in Askersund, breed entry 54, judge Mr Rodi Hubenthal
After a nice joint BBQ with a bunch of puppy buyers and friends on Saturday night, we were pleased to wake up to a blue sky and sun. The day offered perfect show wheather with mostly clouds, a bit of sunshine and primarily - no rain! Lots of RR friends met up at this nice breed event and we had a great time.

Katano started out by receiving a nice 2nd place in the junior class. Congratulations to Sofia and Danne for Theo's class win! In intermediate class, Risto again won the class with champion quality. Open dog class was won by Evergrace's Gladiator Phoenix "Douglas" (Ch RV Akeron x RV Estancia) and Dacke placed 3rd in a strong champion class. Best dog was Ch Mankoya's Great Gambo, followed by Risto who thus won his second CC in two days! What an incredible weekend for Lasse and Malena and handsome Risto! Dacke placed 4th best dog and Douglas 5th.

Yenna again was alone in the junior bitch class and received an great write up as well at the comment "an undisputable champion quality bitch". In intermediate bitch class, in a class of 13, Isola won the class followed by Iyeliz - both with champion quality. Jamila was 4th with honour's prize. Lovely to see all three girls placed in the class again! Tinja was the only RV champion bitch attending and she well defended the honours by winning the champion class and then taking out best bitch. Isola was 2nd best bitch thus winning her 4th CC. Yenna was 5th best bitch - remarkable for this 10 months old girl to make it into the top five at both shows this weekend!

In the run off for Best in Show, Tinja performed beautifully and was awarded top honours by the judge. Tinja has been to three specialties this year, winning BISS at two and bb-2 at the National! Rex Ventors was also awarded Breeder in Show competing with Tinja, Isola, Yenna and Risto - not only four dogs from four different combinations, but also from four different sires and four different dams - and all from outcross litter. Must say I was particularily pleased at the even quality, these things considered!

2005-08-06 - Int KC show Askersund, breed entry 36, judge Ms Gloria Gerringer, USA
The rain was pouring down and we were pretty much soaked already by the time we reached the ring. Thank goodness for the showtents! Luckily it stopped raining just as we were entering the ring and we were very happy to see our guys performing extremely well, with RV dogs winning every class they attended!

The junior dog class was won by Katano who received honour's prize. Intermediate dog class was won by Jaristo who was awarded champion quality. We had brought out "grand old champ" Dacke aka Ch RV Dakowo to Evergrace and it was my true pleasure to show this ultra sound boy to a class win among the champions and best dog. Second best dog was Jaristo who thereby received his first CC. Super congrats to Malena and Lasse!!

In the bitch class, Yenna was alone in the class and was awarded champion quality. In intermediate class, Iyeliz won a large class of 11, with sister Isola placing 4th and Risto's sister Jamila placing 3rd. Well done to the girls! In champion class, Helinn won the class with Tinja placing 3rd. Helinn then won the bitch class, with Iyeliz going 2nd with CC and young Yenna 3rd. So a nice top thee there for the RV's! We were extremely pleased!

Handsome Dacke was awarded BOB with niece Helinn going BOS. RV's breeder's group was awarded honour's prize and thus qualified to compete in the finals. In the big ring, Dacke placed Best in Group-4 under judge Gunnar Nymann, DK and our breeder's group was placed 4th in stiff competition under judge Harry Tast from Finland. Big thanks to Malena, Ninna and Janan who helped show this group to it's full potential in the big ring!

Helinn's co-handler Sofie Lönn showed her pharao hound Vega, Nord Ch EUW-05 Enigma Surprise Me, to a nice Best in Group win. Big congratulations to Sofie and her mum Madeleine for breeding this gorgeous girl! In order to attend Best in Show on Sunday, Sofie and Janan decided not to go to Ronneby for the show on Sunday, so Helinn got a laid back day in the house instead, whereas Vega and Sofie in grand style entered the BIS-finals and brought home another BEST IN SHOW-win! Vega was also awarded Best in Show at the European Winner show earlier this year. What a girl!!!

2005-08-06 - KC Show Svenstavik
With a breed entry of 29, we were proud to learn that the only attending RV dog, young Kenzo, well defended the honours by winning his class with champion quality and placing best dog-3. Well done Kerstin & Kenzo!

2005-08-05 - Excellent scoring news for Jindra!
Rex Ventors Jindra's hips and elbows scores have come back with top ratings, hips grade A and elbows 0/0! Big congratulations to Monika, Magnus and Manfred - and their copper princess of course!
