More about Lacey...
In 1998 the breeding exchange programme between Rex Ventors and the UK
top kennels Nyassa was established. GB Ch Rex Ventors Beks at Nyassa was
picked out and after staying in Sweden until 10 months of age, Beks moved
to his new home with Sue Campbell and the Nyassa hounds.
Upon my first visit to see Beks in his new home and also to meet his
kennel-mates, I was particularily impressed with one of the Nyassa bitches,
a distinguished lady called Lara (Kwekwe Kula of Nyassa). I was very,
very close to bringing back with me one of Lara's daughters from her first
litter, at the time a young puppy of 4 months who stayed at the kennel.
After this first visit I booked a puppy from one of Lara's future litters.
In 2000, Sue picked out her second Rex Ventors-import and a year later
GB Ch Rex Ventors Farrah at Nyassa moved to England. Farrah had a tremendous
break through in the showrings as she, from junior class, won Best of
breed at Crufts 2001, handled by me.
The timing was perfect - as we were over to attend Crufts, we were also
given the opportunity to look at Lara's latest litter, sired by Beks.
The pups were 5 weeks at the time. I had originally thought to get a dog,
but a striking bitch instead caught my eye. She was balanced, well angulated
and had lots of attitude. I picked her out for mine and decided to name
her Legacy, as I hope that she will bring to my breeding programme the
legacy of fine English bloodlines combined with getting back some of my
own original breeding.
Lacey, as she is called, stayed on at Nyassa kennels until she was old
enough to have her hips and elbows done in February 2003. I was thrilled
to learn that her scores came back hips grade A and elbows 0/0. I was
even more thrilled when I again attended Crufts in March 2003 and met
up with the gorgeous young lady that Lacey had grown into.
In May of 2003 Lacey finally set foot (paw) on Swedish ground. She is
staying with the Stendahl family just outside Stockholm and is having
a very active life with them and her uncle Gordon (Beks' half brother).
Lacey passed the aptitude test in field tracking in 2003 and is training
to compete towards her tracking champion title.
Lacey has been selectively shown and has been awarded champion quality
both at all breed and specialty level. She is the dam of our very promising
J-litter, which includes the Puppy in Show-winner at the National specialty
in 2004 and two CC-winners to date. Lacey will have her second litter late 2005 and we hope for even more top quality puppies from this sweet, sociable and lovely girl.
