More about Ikaros...
Ikaros is from a very exciting bloodline combo, combining many top awarded RRs of super quality. Ikaros' dam Ch Bearstar Diamond Willow is our foundation bitch and she was top winning RR bitch in Sweden for four consecutive years. Ikaros' grand-sire Aust Grand Ch Bearstar Ko is a top winning Australian male with no less than 26 champion progeny. Grand-dam "Chilli" Aust Grand Ch Bearstar Chillean Willow was also a top producing brood bitch on top of being a Best in Show-winner. On his sire's side, Ikaros also has some outstanding dogs. His sire Ch Masithela's Famous Akinzo by Woody was top winning RR-male in Norway 2004 and is out of famous USA Top RR Ch Wetu of Kalahari "Woody" and Norwegian top winning bitch Ch Ami Sariba. The qualities of all the outstanding dogs in this pedigree have certainly come together beautifully to produce Rex Ventors I-litter. The I-litter is of very even quality with some excellent fronts, ribcages, angles and nice movement overall. All six show quality pups in the litter have been awarded "championquality" at champ shows and three of the girls were multiple CC-winners with BOB and BOS-wins already from junior and inter. Two of them completed their titles within a month after turning two years of age (requires age for Ch). Ikaros was the third champion in the litter and was soon followed by his sister in Norway.
Health- and temperamentwise, the litter is also very even. The whole litter has been x-rayed with grade A hips and 0/0 elbows. All seven puppies in the litter have also been mentality tested and six of them have grade 1 gunshot proofness (the top score). Considering the overall quality of the I-litter, we think that Ikaros will be a valuable asset to the breed as a stud dog. We hope he will pass on the qualities of his ancestors. We very much look forward to follow the development of Ikaros' litters so far at Hamnudden's kennel, Evergrace's kennel and Bellus kennel. So far, the babies are looking very promising and two daughters from the first litter have had some lovely results in the showring already.
Ikaros was the only show quality male in Demi's last litter and that alone makes him
a very valuable boy for us. We're very happy to be able to co-own him
with Jazmine and Michael Ohgami who provide Ikaros with a very active
home. On top of being shown, Ikaros trains field tracking and obediance
and with any luck he should be out and compete in both disciplines.
In the show ring, Ikaros has already had his qualities recognized. On
top of some outstanding conformation features, Ikaros is also a true showman
who enjoys his time in the ring. Already from junior he was awarded
numerous champion quality and was placed in best dog class on several
occation. Ikaros won his first CC in grand style, going best male and BOS at the Sofiero RR Club specialty show with a breed entry of 90+ RRs. The second CC was also followed by a best dog award, accompanied by a BOB and BIG-3 at a large KC show. Ikaros finished his title in May 2006. Since then he has also been awarded CC and CACIB in Denmark, rendering Danish Ch and CC in Estonia, rendering Estonian Ch.
In April 2005, Ikaros passed his mentality test and got the best possible score on gunshot proofness.
